The Fed’s Bailout: Whose Money Is It?

On its own initiative the Federal Reserve has been making decisions to bail out the U.S. financial industry from exposure triggered by the collapse of the housing bubble. The bailouts, which are now extending beyond the traditional regulated banking system to investment banks such as Bear Stearns, involve hundreds of billions of dollars.

The Department of Homeland Security is pursuing the introduction of a device known as the Security Bracelet, a wearable tag that would allow authorities to inflict pain compliance on suspects from a distance, while also recommending law enforcement applications and potential use in “crowd control situations”.

Winding Up Bear Stearns: Paulson’s Gift to His Bankster Buddies

One picture tells the whole story. It’s a photo of five grim looking men in gray suits staring ahead blankly like they were in the dock with Saddam awaiting sentencing. Every one of them looks downcast and dejected; shoulders rounded and jaws set. This is what desperation looks like, which is why the photo was kept off the front pages of the leading newspapers.
